Hi! Long time no blog. The Ottawa International Animation Festival starts next Wednesday! It is basically the best thing that happens in Ottawa all year. This year I am busy with friends' weddings so I won't be seeing much of it, but fortunately a lot of the films are available online! Here's a preview of what you are missing by not going:
I Am Alone and My Head Is On Fire by David OReilly - McLaren's Workshop App from National Film Board of Canada on Vimeo.

Huey Lewis and Weird Al in American Psycho Parody
In this video, Huey Lewis lets Weird Al know how he feels about Al's song parodies. It's pretty good, by the way.
Want to see the scene from American Psycho that this video is based on? Go here.
UPDATE: Apparently Funny or Die don't like having their videos embedded. Here's a link to the video instead:

College Humor Highlights
Saw some stuff on College Humor today that I thought was worth sharing.
1)In this video, College Humor clarifies the meaning of the title "Paperman." I knew that magical flying paper stuff was all too good to be true.
2) Click here to see an article about candle scents that you might like but which will probably never exist. I think my favourite one would be "tennis ball can." I would add "Canadian Tire" and "That Powder Soap They Have at Walt Disney World" to my personal wish list.

The Star Wars Conspiracy
Well, I'm convinced. Darth was in on it all along. Funny, I never knew he owned a construction company.

Destino
Here's a curiosity. Many years ago Walt Disney and Salvador Dali collaborated to make a short film, but it was not completed in the end because it was too expensive. Then, years later, Roy E. Disney decides to pull out the storyboards and make the film, and it was completed in 2003. The results are... interesting.
Having trouble understanding it? Read on for my thoughts on interpretation.

Zeddy is abandoned in the woods! How did I miss this?
Poor Zeddy. Somehow this was a thing that happened back in September and I never heard about it! Zellers officially abandoned Zeddy. It's both sad and hilarious! Did you know he lives in Sarnia?
Don't worry, though. Apparently he has been adopted as the mascot for Camp Trillium. Yes, for real.

An Oddly Prescient Muppets Sketch
Take a look at the finale at 7:15 of this Pigs in Space meets Star Wars clip. It's like the writers could fortell the future, isn't it?

This Way Up
By request of my #1 follower (there's only one!), my blog returns!
Today I was thinking about the upcoming Ottawa International Animation Festival, and I was reminded of one of my favourite films that I've seen there. Here it is for all the world to see!
Don't worry, it's pretty short.

Today, I achieved a small goal
This is my papercraft daruma doll. I made him earlier this week because I needed a motivational boost. Daruma dolls are cool because they are not only symbols of good luck, but they encourage you to make your own luck. When you buy a real one, its eyes are blank. You are supposed to decide on a goal and then draw in one eye. You can't draw on the other one until you make your goal happen! I wrote my goal on its head. It was to finish my technology report for my Methods and Materials class. I handed it in today, so now he gets another eye. See him in his eyeless glory after the jump.

Life With Archie is weird... and awesome
Anyone who's ever read an Archie comic, you might want to read this.
I just wanted to let the world know: Life With Archie does not suck. It is the opposite of suck. And it is extremely weird. Each issue follows Archie's life after he marries Betty and then, in a second story, after he marries Veronica. It sounds like a lame love story, but this is one comic that is nothing like you would expect. To see some of the really weird developments (or if you just want to know what's up with that picture) hit the jump.
Warning: spoilers
